Kitty's Log: 03 April 2022

Kitty's Log

Date: 03-04-2022

Weather: Sunny

Hello dear friends, and happy Sunday. And happy April too, for that matter! I do hope all is well. Can you believe that the first three months of the year are already behind us... gosh, time really does fly.

I rather like the month of April. The weather is generally dry and bright (although yesterday, it was snowing - also quite cool) and we have "events" like King's Day, Easter, my human's birthday (he will be 43) and ... MY birthday!

Oh yes folks, on April 30th I will turn 12 years old! (I will officially be a senior cat). Not sure yet what the birthday plans will be but I'm pretty sure there will be some little gifties and tasty treats in the mix :)

My birthday happens to fall on a Saturday too so my pawrents will be off work and can focus fully on me for the day!

Also in April, my other human will be heading to hospital for an operation on her foot... This has been a long time coming so it's great it's finally in the planning.

She will have stitches and crutches and will be on "bed rest" for a few weeks (looks like we will be enjoying some quality cuddle-time :)

But away from April, what happened in March? Well, there was St. Patrick's Day which was nice to celebrate. We kept things low-key and stayed home - my humans donned green jumpers and I went with a stylish ribbon.

France won the Six Nations Rugby tournament (well deserved) but Ireland did come in second place plus, won the Triple Crown! (congrats to the boys).

And my humans also travelled over to Ireland for the first time in over two years.

It went really well and was so nice to see everyone again (it was like they had never left) and catch-up.

The sun shone over Cork and West Cork for the entire visit which was a real blessing (not to mention, rather unusual for Ireland in March!). Some good weather always helps things along and it certainly made for an extra special visit...

That part of south-west Ireland is particularly beautiful and there is something so stunning about the sea, Bantry Bay (see photo), the colour and charm of the towns and villages, and the ruggedness of the (famous) Wild Atlantic Way...

My humans spent time in Durrus, Bantry, Ballylickey, Glengarriff, Kilcrohane (what great sounding place names) and Cork.

Next to wandering around and soaking up the atmosphere, some restaurants were also frequented including The Fish Kitchen (Bantry), Blairscove (Durrus), Mannings Emporium (Ballylickey) and The Anglers (Cork City).

And while in the city, they also popped by a pub called the Hi-B Bar as enjoying a pint of Guinness in Ireland is a must when visiting the Emerald Isle!

While all this was going on, I got to stay at my favourite Cat Hotel in Maastricht, De Gelaarsde Kat (Puss in Boots).

It was another luxury experience and the kind ladies looked after me so well and made sure I had a bed in a quiet space and plenty soft food and kibble...

That said, I was happy to see my humans again when they returned and I made sure to catch-up on my cuddle quota! Although they bug me from time to time, I do miss them when we are apart.

But what of the coming week?

Well there is not all that much in the planning for the moment... just the usual "working week" stuff, me thinks.

It would seem that the weather is going to take a turn however (April, what is going on?!) and we have some rain and colder temperatures on the way...

I guess it won't be too bad, mind - especially if I make sure to get a cozy spot on the radiator and stay toasty! (sometimes cat life can be so simple :) Have a great week ahead. Love, LT x
