Weather: Dry but a little chilly

Hello dear friends and happy Tuesday!

It’s rather scary to think that it’s already August (this year has simply flown by...)

The weather is also not helping – it’s rather gloomy here in Maastricht with lots of rainy days at the moment and honestly, it feels like it’s already autumn. Not that I mind autumn but it would be nice to finish summer first :)

Aside from that, it’s been a pretty quiet week… the Olympics are still on and we are now seeing a lot of track and fields events. Most exciting... I know that my human is waiting for the relay races (one of her favourite disciplines).

Speaking of humans, my "pawrents" took off this past weekend for a little break in a province called Gelderland. Sounds rather magical but sadly it seems it was not the case!

By all accounts the entire weekend was a bit underwhelming – largely due to the weather...

The constant heavy rain just did not lend itself to any possibilities for a decent walk nor any photographic opportunities. And although the scenery was nice, there was not much wildlife to see, nor dry weather to see it in!

Luckily the accommodation where they stayed was really pretty (see pic) and they got to enjoy some nice food and so on.

All that aside, I had a pretty good (and dry!) weekend. I stayed at my regular Cat Hotel, "De Gelaarsde Kat" (translates as Puss-in-Boots) and enjoyed a nice quiet room with some 5-star service, plenty of good food and lots of cat napping!

That said, I was thrilled when my humans collected me yesterday! They came to the hotel several hours ahead of time (they had left Gelderland early), so I was able to help them unpack when we got home and we all had lunch together to celebrate their - and more importantly, my - return!

For the rest it’s business as usual here at Casa Little Tubbs. I’ve been catching up on snoozies (see photo for an impression - and check-out those toe beans!) along with meowing at the birds in the garden.

There has also been some re-potting going on outdoors. Our lovely Christmas tree ("Shrubby") from last December is thriving so needed to be put into a larger pot on the patio. Sadly however, our cherry tree is not doing so well. Not sure if it's the strange weather but it’s a pity to see her looking so sad and wilted. I hope things will turn around... mother nature usually finds a way.

And my human has a new hobby. It’s called Sumi-e and seems it's something to do with ink painting in a style of art that comes from Japan...

Some of the work looks very complicated to me so but her initial efforts do look quite pretty so I will keep an eye on the progress.

I have also heard talk of a drawing that will be inspired by me... makes sense in my opinion ;)

Well dear friends, I am going to get back to my busy schedule of snoozing.

I've asked my humans to fashion a sort of "cave" for me (it’s a blanket tucked in over half the sofa) and they've done a nice job - it's a very comfy and cozy spot to enjoy some quality cat napping.

Wishing you all a great week ahead…

Love, LT x
