Kitty's Log
Date: 16-01-2022
Weather: Grey & chilly
Hello dear friends and I hope this finds you well.
As this is my first post for the new year, may I take a moment to wish you all a very Happy 2022! I do hope the year has been treating you well so far...
It's hard to believe that we are already over two weeks in!

I hope you all had a good New Year's...
Ours was a pretty low-key affair and we didn't do much on the last day of 2021... just hung around at home and took things easy.
We did binge-watch the latest season of Cobra Kai on Netflix though. It was really good!
And in the evening, there was food and drinkies for my humans (I stuck with water and kibble ;) and yet more TV.
As it got closer to midnight, things began to become a little noisier outside - despite the ban on fireworks. Although the "bangs" were less than previous years, as the clock struck twelve, things did reach a peak and it all became too much for me.
Despite my human's best efforts to comfort me, I was on edge for a good few hours. It's tough to be a kitty on New Year's Eve :(
The first day of the new year was calm on all fronts, however. My humans popped out for a New Year's Day walk (I caught up on some much needed sleep!) and for the rest - and given the weather wasn't particularly nice - it was more "cozy indoor" time.
I decided not to make any resolutions for 2022. I think that if you wish to stop something or start something new, that one can do that any day of the year - and not just on January 1st!

In any case, I think I'll just carry on "as is" for this year (why mess with a winning formula, right? ;)
We took our Christmas tree down on January 5th (Twelfth Night) and packed away the decorations and lights for another year...
As mentioned, our Christmas Tree (Sprucey) was re-located outside onto the patio and is doing really well.
He looks great in his new spot and our garden birds are already flitting by for a visit when they eat at the feeders.
I also pop by Sprucey to say hello when I venture outside, and to give him a little snuffle.
And now here we are on January 16th already - how fast time goes. .. But we've been keeping ourselves busy here at Chez Tubbs! My humans (finally) paid a visit to the local recycling plant and I must say that the cellar is looking much cleaner now.
My human has also been busy selling some little items on an online shop called Vinted. I think she only makes a few euros here and there but still, it helps clear-out the house a bit plus, every little helps, right? (in Ireland they say ¨mind the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves." )
Speaking of Ireland (and I've mentioned this before), my human is continuing her study of the Irish language and only last week (in her monthly letter to her mom - and the first of the year) she wrote an entire page in Gaelic. She was most proud!

Away from home, my humans headed over the border yesterday to visit a place in Belgium called Baraque Michel.
It was only about an hour's drive away but what difference in the weather!
Gone was the chilly temperature of 3°C and the grey, misty skies and instead, they were treated to some snow, sunshine and a balmy 8 degrees!
I think this photograph says it all :)
It was nice though... my humans hadn't really been "away" for quite a while and, as they say: a change is as good as a rest.
Here in the Netherlands, we had some good news last Friday when it was announced that some of the Covid-19 measures would be relaxed. It seems that non-essential stores can now re-open again and sports-halls too. My human is particularly happy with the latter as it means she can now get back to the yoga studio!
Sadly restaurants can still only do takeaway/home delivery but paws crossed they will be able to open again (properly) soon.
Well dear friends, I think that is about it for this time... I will write again soon and hopefully, I'll have some more fun and interesting news to share when that moment comes.
Until then, take care of yourselves and wishing you a great week ahead!
Love, LT xx
