Kitty's Log

Date: 17-07-2021

Weather: Dry (thankfully) with a little sunshine

Hello dear friends, and happy Caturday!

Oh yes, it's THE day of the week for us kitties :) What are your plans? I started the day off with a snuffle outside followed by a hefty breakfast (kibble and soft food :) before settling in for my first groom and snooze of the day!

This all gave me some time to reflect and my goodness, what a week it has been...

As many of you may have seen on the news, there has been some very heavy rain and serious flooding in this part of western Europe.

Here in Maastricht where I am, we were not directly impacted but it has been very sad to see people (and fellow fur-friends) being evacuated from their homes and to see houses and businesses being damaged by the flood waters.

It was also so sad to hear about people and animals losing their lives in the flooding.

I am sending my best wishes and big furry hugs to all folks who have been (and continue to be) impacted...

In this part of the Netherlands it does seem that the worst may be over (here's hoping) but there is still the damage assessment to be done and today, the River Maas is still very high and behaving like a fierce monster as it continues to roar and spit its way through the city.

Some respite did come yesterday (Friday) which meant I was able to keep my annual appointment at the vet. I popped by to see the lovely Dr. K at Anicura Maastricht who told me I was in great shape!

It seems I have a good heart, good eyes, ears, teeth, tummy, fur... it's all good! Not bad for an 11 year old kitty, huh? (and that's 60 in humans years ;)

I still had to get my usual shot (against all manner of kitty diseases) though plus, this horrid oily substance on my head (which helps protect me against fleas and ticks and things)... Eww!

I also managed to maintain my weight (4.26kg) which was good news and to celebrate, my humans made me a special dinner! As you can see, I popped on my favourite tie for the occasion (well, you have to dress-up for fancy meals, right?!)

For the rest, the Euro 2020 tournament has since ended (gosh, it seems like an age ago). Italy were the eventual winners of the tournament (many congratulations to the Azzuri!) when they beat England on penalties.

One takeaway from the football tournament for me is that I now have a huge "man-crush" on Gareth Southgate - he just seems like such a nice and likeable chap. I've asked my humans about a kitty-waistcoat for me (like the ones he wears) and I shall be keeping a close eye on the mailbox going forward!

And what of this coming weekend..?

Well it seems like it's going to be a rather low-key affair. Although it's still dry (thankfully), it is a little chilly so I think I'll hunker down indoors and just enjoy my Caturday. I believe my humans have some errands to run plus some (typical) Saturday chores but I'll just leave them to it...

For me, Caturdays are rather sacred and meant for cat-napping and general laziness!

Wishing you all a good weekend :)

Until next time...

Love, LT xx
