Hello dear friends, and happy Monday!
(Meowday?!)
Goodness me, I cannot believe that it's over two weeks since I last put paw-to-keyboard. My sincerest apologies but this "most wonderful time of the year" has been rather hectic!
Between supervising the decoration of our Christmas tree "Sprucey" (a mammoth task) to braving the city centre to acquire some last minute presents (holiday shoppers are scary!), to sorting out the myriad of parcels that have been showing up at home and of course, there were also my usual daily tasks of eating, napping, grooming, etc.
So as you can imagine, it's been all go!
Back to the parcels for a moment and we actually received a very nice one from my human's parents in West Cork...
It contained some gifts which have to be saved until Christmas Day (of course) but also a few items that could already be opened (hurrah!) including this "Nollaig Shona" cushion.
Nollaig Shona means Merry Christmas in Gaelic (that rather odd sounding [native] language from Ireland) but I must say, the cushion is just darling!
Here you can see me posing next to said cushion... (though I did start to lose interest in the camera at one point ;)
On another note, I have a spot of rather alarming news... my human has announced that she is going to knit a Christmas Cat Scarf for me. I fear the worst!
The colour (a red mix) seems OK but I've heard talk of those "ball tassel" things at the end... I ask you!
How on earth will I be able to get our patio pigeons to take me seriously when I'm on"meowing-at-the-birds-through-the-window" duty?!
I think I will just remain calm until I've had a chance to inspect the finished product... I then see three scenarios:
I will simply wear the scarf - perhaps it'll turn out nice!
If option 1 fails, I will "accidentally lose" the scarf while exploring the Catio ;)
If option 2 fails (and my human finds the scarf on the catio), I'll call the professionals!
It's tough to be a kitty sometimes ;)
Onto a less worrying topic and guess what? There are just five more sleeps until Christmas Day! I am looking forward to Christmas and enjoying the festive season/some time off.
Unfortunately a lock-down is now in place here in the Netherlands (until January 14th) and my humans can no longer go out for lunch on December 25th. So they have instead arranged a take-out "Christmas Menu Box" from one of their favourite restaurants in the city: Witloof
The menu looks fab (I will definitely have a snuffle) though I will be enjoying my own special Catmas menu of soft food from Almo Nature, kibble from Royal Canin and liquid snacks from Vitakraft (for dessert ;)
It will be nice to have Christmas lunch together but I draw the line at wearing those Christmas Cracker paper hats!

After over-indulging, I believe the plan is to settle-in on the sofa for some favourite Christmas movies: Love Actually, The Holiday, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Home Alone and Die Hard (yes, it is a Christmas movie... Yippee-Ki-Yay!)
But what of the coming days..?
Well, it's taken a turn weather wise and although it's dry, it is a little chilly so I've been catching-up on snoozies for the most part. The heating is on and I do enjoy a cozy nap!
Plus, I think it only makes sense to be well-rested in advance of the Christmas festivities ;) Indeed, everywhere might be closed but we will make the most of the situation and enjoy this special time together... and the gifties!
I will be doing a blog post again before the end of 2021 so I'll save the New Year wishes for now... but I do already want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Sending fluffy festive cuddles,
Love,
LT xx
